Why Choose Doc Trumps?
Most people choose a chiropractor because someone they know said the doctor is "sooo good.” And that's a great place to start.....
When people talk to others about their chiropractor, they say how quickly they started to feel better. They describe what the visits are like---and whether or not it hurts when the doctor adjusts them. Knowing these important details can help you decide on the best chiropractor to meet your needs.
When a chiropractor takes care of your spine and other joints, you’ve chosen a doctor who will directly work with you. Someone who will evaluate your needs based on their education and their experience. Someone who will examine you and treat you---usually on the same visit.
So, what sets Dr. Trumps---"Doc" to her patients---apart from other Doctors of Chiropractic?
1. Education. Like all chiropractors, Dr. Trumps completed a curriculum more rigorous than medical school. Click on this link for a comparison of typical programs for chiropractic and medical schools---www.acatoday.org/level3_css.cfm?T1ID=13&T2ID=61&T3ID=151
However, before becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Trumps earned a Bachelor of.Science degree in Occupational Therapy, providing her with an education in physiology and rehabilitation that goes even beyond a chiropractic degree. For more details about her education and background, go to About Us at the top of this page, and click on Meet the Doctor.
2. Experience. Diversity. And More Experience. As an occupational therapist, Dr. Trumps worked in acute care hospitals, outpatient settings, home health and rehab units---and in private practice. She established treatment protocols for Neonatal ICU and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome in California facilities.
Dr. Trumps has treated patients in intensive care units, burn units, cardiac rehab, orthopaedic settings, and spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury units. Her patients at BODY MIND & SPINE receive all of the benefits of her extensive experience treating traumatic brain injury, developmental and learning problems, vertigo, headaches, hand injuries, arm and leg problems and spinal conditions, and caring for patients who’ve had hip, shoulder and knee replacements.
3. The Touch. Doc has it. Honestly, there’s a bit of poking and prodding to es
tablish motion in a joint. But most people are amazed at the apparent ease with which their problems are established and cared for at BODY MIND & SPINE. Here are some words that we hear from our patients: "Unbelievable" "Miraculous" "Amazing"......and, well, you get the point. Baby Colin B., pictured right, clearly expresses that Dr. Trumps has found "the spot" during his adjustment, while the little patient below shows how relaxed it feels, after Doc treats those stuck spots. The writing on her shirt says it best: Sweet!

While we prefer that patients tell us about their habits that probably contribute to their problems, they may not realize which habits are involved, they may forget---or they may be too young to tell us. But their bodies remember. Doc is especially good at figuring these things out. Our favorite phrase from patients is, "How did you know that?"
4. More Better - FASTER. At BODY MIND & SPINE, we respect your time and other resources. We manage to get a tremendous amount of work done at each appointment, and you’ll experience the benefit of care within the first couple of sessions. In addition, treatment is comfortable and gentle enough to minimize inflammation. Instead of following an arbitrary “protocol,” we reduce the frequency of your visits as you respond to treatment, which reduces the number of times that you have to rearrange your schedule---and deal with traffic---to come in for treatment.
5. A Fix for a Lifetime. Unique to the profession of occupational therapy is the philosophy of balancing the domains of work, rest and play. Doc Trumps will help you learn to preserve and protect your health improvements, while regaining and improving your quality of life.
6. Optimistic Expectations. Dr. Trumps has optimistic expectations about the ability of her patients to get back to work and to re-engage in other activities. Her expectations are also realistic---in decades of clinical experience, she's seen the amazing capacity of people to heal from injuries and from the demands of life. She'll bring those optimistic expectations into her sessions with you and combine them with the art and science of hands-on therapies, with a little help from technology, for effective treatment solutions.
7. Patient Education & Self-Determination. Patients are educated to notice if their lifestyle habits are supporting health, or not. For example, Doc helps patients become aware of how they sit at their desk, or lie on a sofa to watch TV---to notice if positions may be pulling their spine out of alignment and causing recurrent problems. Then she helps them learn new habits that support well-being.
Beyond that, Dr. Trumps encourages self-determination---for patients to think about how well they want to feel and live, how good they want their lives to be; to make choices that can take them in that direction; and to feel secure about those choices, to support who they are, going forward.
Here's an article that shows what can happen when someone is self-determined, instead of accepting quick or pat answers. We hope you'll be inspired by her story.
